Susan Bankey
Yoder, SSA
I have always had a passion
for animals and the outdoors. My work is inspired by countless
encounters with wildlife in my travels around the country as
well as my own backyard. Nothing makes me happier than being
out in the field studying and observing all that nature has to
offer. It's hard to imagine not painting when there is inspiration
around every corner. After almost a lifetime as an artist, I
am still just as passionate about it all and still learning so
much.
I work primarily in watercolor,
gouache, graphite or acrylic mediums. While my paintings are
highly detailed, I try to capture the soul of the subject I am
painting. It is very gratifying to complete a piece that invokes
a feeling or tells a story to the viewer.
Through my career, I have
won several national trout and conservation competitions. My
work has been shown in national shows around the United States
like the National Wildlife Center in Washington DC. Along with
solo exhibitions, I have had my work travel with the Society
of Animal Artist's "Art and the Animal" national art
exhibition, of which I am proud to be a signature member.
